Meet the New Power Coaches
by Lona – Friday, 29. May 2020
This week, Velocity welcomed four new Power coaches to the team. Melanie, Nadine, Lena, and Kostas are all highly motivated to kick off their new careers as Power coaches after absolutely killing it in the Velocity Power Academy over the last few weeks. The talented fitness trainers will be teaching all week in Zug – so go ahead and give their classes and fresh style a try!
Melanie
Melanie started dancing hip hop & street dance at only 4 years old while growing up in Aargau – this became her passion. Although she first chose to go the classical business way working in an office job for 10 years, she eventually decided to change paths. She started to work as a dancer and with time, decided to put more and more energy into dancing, sports, and working with people. Eventually, she took a few classes at Velocity and knew right away that this was the right place for her. It’s where she can combine it all, the great music, great people and fitness!
Q: Why did you decide to become a power coach?
A: I love the way Power strengthens my muscles in combination with improving my balance. As a dancer a strong core and good balance is super important. Power does it both for me and I just love to feel the burn in every muscle! I’ve never been a big fan of going to the gym because I don’t really like the vibe. For me the X-Former is a whole gym in one machine and I love the good energy of the community!
Q: What would you say to someone trying power for the first time?
A: Just go with the flow, be ready to feel muscles burning that you have never felt before and become a part of the strong community! If you don’t try you’ll never know.
Q: What music style can people expect in your classes?
A: I’m into Hip Hop, RnB, & Latin music.
Q: If you could choose a super POWER which one would you choose?
A: I’d love to have endless energy and endurance to be able to do anything I want
Lena S.
You might already recognize Lena from the front desk in Zug. With her background in dance, gymnastics, and other types of fitness, Lena was inspired to become a power coach after trying the classes herself at Velocity.
Q: Why did you decide to become a Power coach?
A: Because it’s totally different to the stuff I was teaching before. In my work in fitness outside of Velocity I teach mostly HIIT & Bootcamp style classes. Unlike these kinds of workouts, reformer workouts are extremely slow and controlled. Every movement matters. I think it’s really important to have that balance.
Q: What would you say to someone trying power for the first time?
A: Power is an awesome full body workout and you are definitely missing something if you don’t give it a try!
Q: What music style can people expect in your classes?
A: A bit of everything – I love pop charts & mixing it up!
Q: If you could choose a super POWER which one would you choose?
A: Definitely Flying – and I’m sure the core strength I build in power classes would help me a lot 😉 Plus, Power is great for learning to really feel and control your body.
Kostas
If you love Kostas’ veloburn classes, we highly encourage you to try out a Power class with him as soon as a spot opens up.
Although Kostas’ background is in civil engineering, his passion for fitness and love for teaching ultimately won him over. He’s a certified fitness instructor with several years of experience and his priority is to turn your workout into a fun and rewarding journey, engaging both the body and the mind. Release your tension, let loose and trust his beats, designed to pump up your every movement.
Q: Why did you decide to become a Power coach?
A: Power offers a unique standard of training combining balance, strength and flexibility. At the same time nothing beats the exhilarating take-home feeling after every class is completed.
Q: What would you say to someone trying power for the first time?
A: To push themselves, to a degree they might even feel a bit uncomfortable with. Power training allows for a personalized adjustment at everyone’s own rate, which also caters to different tastes in training.
Q: What music style can people expect in your classes?
A: Music with soulful beats: R&B, house, drum and bass
Q: If you could choose a super POWER which one would you choose?
A: Flying; wonder what that feels like!
Nadine
Fitness was always Nadine’s “big love”. As a child, she used to dance in every style – from Hip Hop to Ballet. She even ended up going to New York to train as a dancer at one point! More recently, she tried working out at the gym and just loved it. Last autumn she decided to quit her corporate job in Marketing & Communications to focus more on this passion for sports and nutrition. She attained a degree in sports and preventive nutrition and is now pursuing a second certificate as a personal trainer.
Q: What do you love about Power?
A: What should I say. It’s so hard, it brings you to your limit every time you take a class no matter what fitness level you’re at. You always have the possibility to challenge yourself. I like the atmosphere, the darkroom with the loud music, the good vibes… I like that you get angry sometimes but always end up super happy in the end. It’s a workout that you can use to tone your full body – with only one machine! That’s so crazy and amazing at the same time. It only took a few classes before I fell in love with it. I just love workouts that bring you to the limits but are still doable.
Q: What would you say to someone trying power for the first time?
A: It’s going to be hard, it’s going to be challenging, but it’s definitely worth it – it’s a whole new experience and you should just go for it!
Q: What music style can people expect in your classes?
A: Everything from hip hop to house/electro
Q: If you could choose a super POWER which one would you choose?
A: I would love to be able to fly
