6 things you need to know before our Outdoor Rides

By Anna – 19 May 2022

The time has finally come. For a limited time only we’re bringing our OUTDOORS RIDES back. You asked, and we delivered so grab your bike before it’s too late.

There are some things that are great to remember before taking our outdoor rides so you can make the most out of your outdoor ride experience.

Check them out below and don’t miss out on the surprise summer playlist at the end!

CHECK THE LOCATION

Depending on the outdoor ride spot, there might not be showers and other facilities available, so it’s often best to come in your workout clothes already. Make sure you check the weather and dress accordingly. While indoors we have our magnificent AC on full blast, it will not be the case outside, so think shorts, hats, sunglasses, etc. And vice-versa, it never hurts to take an additional sweater with you, just in case.

BRING A WATER BOTTLE & STAY HYDRATED

It’s summer and the heat is real. It’s important to stay hydrated before and during the workout, so make sure you bring your full water bottle. Depending on the location, there might not be fresh running water or a place to purchase drinks, so always check in advance.

For our outdoor rides @ Studio West though, we’ve got you covered.

HEADPHONES

You can regulate the volume level on the side of your headphones independently. If you’re having trouble hearing the coach or music (which is rare), try turning the headphones off and on again. If it doesn’t work, we have extra pairs of headphones in each studio in case yours are faulty. Simply notify your coach or studio manager, and they will change them for you.

VELOBURN PERFORMANCE STATS

If you decide to take one of our Outdoor Veloburn Rides, please note that you will not receive your performance statistics as usual. It’s because the bike consoles usually send the stats via ANT+ signals to our laptop in the ride room, and the laptop requires a dedicated wifi connection. The laptop is then projected up on the screens for the Leaderboard. Without the laptop and wifi connection, we unfortunately are unable to capture your stats back on your profile. But you can still turn on your bike console to see your RPMs, Power, Resistance, Calories, etc. as usual.

APPLY SUNSCREEN

While you will definitely feel the burn, we will not want it to be from the sun. Make sure you apply a generous coat of sunscreen, even if the ride is towards the evening. Just imagine the tan lines if you don’t.

RAINCHECK

If heavy rain is expected, the ride will most likely be moved indoors. We are watching the weather forecast and will attempt to notify you as soon as possible if any changes occur.

Important: whether it’s cold or simply a light drizzle, the rides will be held outside, so see point #2 🙂

And that is it! You’re all set, so book your bike and bring good vibes. If you can’t wait to get into the summer mood on your way, check out the awesome Tropic Like It’s Hot playlist by our Velobeat coach Cece
