Spotlight: The Velocity Zug Studio

by Laura – August 5 2021

Famous for it’s “Kirsh” (a clear, colorless brandy traditionally made from double distillation of darkcherries), positioning itself as a hub for cryptocurrency and being rated the best Expat City in 2019 for its quality of life, Zug is a small yet vibrant city with many things to offer – including the Velocity Zug studio!

We asked some of the Zug team what their favorite things about Velocity Zug are.

Francesca R. – Zug Studio Manager & Coach

What’s your favorite thing about Zug city?

Walking by the lakeside and the old town is beautiful, there are also really nice restaurants and bars in Zug.

What do you like the most about the Velocity studio in Zug?

It is welcoming, the location is super convenient. It’s spacious and cool because it’s on two floors which makes it different from the Zurich studios.

What’s your favorite Velocity concept and why?

I teach them all so it’s so hard to choose! But I recently started Velobeat so I’m loving that the most right now.

What do you love about the Zug community?

Feels like a family, everybody knows everybody, we’re on a first name basis and walking into the studio feels like walking into your living room – but with a whole lot more sweat!

Mirj – Velobeat & Power Coach

What’s your favorite thing about Zug city?

It’s small yet full of everything you need. You can walk to the lake or you can walk through the city and the old town that’s full of shops and restaurants. There are also so many expats here so we can connect to so many cool people around the world.

What do you like the most about the Velocity studio in Zug?

I really like that the studio is so close to everything. It’s close to the train station and the highway so it’s easy to get there. It’s close to Metalli and only a short walk to the lake so it’s great after class to get food or drinks. The building itself is also very light, spacious and the atmosphere is like being a member of the family.

What’s your favorite Velocity concept and why?

I personally teach Velobeat, Combo and Power so I can’t decide, haha!

Velobeat is so much fun because I can mix up the playlists and choreo’s in almost every class. Some clients come to my rides three times a week so I want them to have a good workout each time. I also feel as a coach I can express myself the most with Velobeat.

Power workouts I really like too because it’s great to be able to serve many levels of fitness and many levels of many people in the same class. You can do so many variations which suit all types of people; men, women, young, older, injured, pregnant, post-partum, it’s really doable for anyone.

Combo is so challenging because you spend the first half really pushing it with high energy on the legs and then the second half you are more controlled and focus on strength so it’s really a great way to push the physical boundaries but also the mental boundaries as well!

What do you love about the Zug community?

I just love everybody who walks inside the studio.I love people who bring new people. I love people who are teaching themselves in other studios and come by and feel challenged too. I love that first-timers feel so good that they come back again and again. The people here cheer me up and I cheer them up and we create something beautiful together. No matter what kind of day I’ve had I just feel amazing after the class, every time and I’m so grateful we have that, it’s not an easy thing to find.

What’s your favorite thing about Zug city?

Zug city is small but that‘s also a perk since everything is close by and easy to reach. There is a lake, city center and even a tiny mountain in walking distance. You could say it’s a diverse place to live – for young and old

What do you like the most about the Velocity studio in Zug?

Velocity Zug has a great community with people of all ages who show up regularly. You get to know them easily since they‘re very open minded and you can get into a lot of fascinating conversations.

What’s your favorite Velocity concept and why?

I don‘t really have a favorite concept since I love every single workout there is. But recently I got into Veloburn. I like to challenge myself and the leaderboard gives me an extra push to give my best. In saying that, nothing will beat my Sunday ritual: Erika‘s Velobeat class.

They engage in conversations, everyone gets to know each other and it feels like a little family gathering every time the people walk in.
