ALEX

Tell us about yourself

Originally from Michigan, I relocated to Zurich alongside my husband and our dog Finn in December 2021. While in the United States, I pursued a career as an Event Planner, but my true passion was for health and wellness. Embracing an active lifestyle, I was certified as a Holistic Health Coach, and at Velocity I have been coaching invigorating Power workouts already for almost a year. Dance has long been an important part of my life and in Velobeat, I love to combine the beat of the music with the different, energizing movements, to really help motivate and push people to achieve their goals in each workout. Beyond Velocity, I devote my time to curating content for my wellness blog, experimenting with new recipes, and enjoying moments with friends, my husband and, naturally, my dog Finn.

How did you discover Velocity?

I went to my first Velocity workout with a group of girls before heading to Sunday brunch and I was hooked ever since!

Why Velocity?

I really believe in working out to get stronger and to enhance our overall well-being. I feel that’s exactly what Velocity stands for. Plus, I LOVE the vibe and energy the ride room gives me. I feel empowered, energized and stronger after each workout.

What was the most challenging part of the Velobeat Academy?

Building up the endurance. It’s a whole different game when you realize you have to talk AND ride at the same time.

What’s going to make your Velobeat workouts unique?

My Velobeat workouts are unique because I love to bring in the fun vibes of dancing to the ride, but also sharing some real life motivation and experiences to keep you giving it your all until the very end.

What music will you play in your workouts?

I’m a huge fan of all types of music. But for my workouts you’ll find a mix of EDM/Techno, hip-hop, rap and some jams to really make you connect to the beat and have a blast.

Fun fact about you?

I actually turned orange when I was a baby because all I would eat was orange baby food. A real life Oompa loompa!

MARIA

Tell us about yourself

I’m originally from Ukraine and I’ve lived an active lifestyle for as long as I can remember. I started dancing at the age of 6 which later became my professional career. Along the way, I dove into the world of fitness, constantly exploring different workouts in search of something new. This is what led me to teaching dance, stretching, and aero-stretching while balancing a full-time stage career. What I always look for in a workout is a safe way to get stronger, challenge myself and push through mental barriers.

How did you discover Velocity?

My friend introduced me to Velocity, so I first started as a customer. I later became a Front Desk manager, got through the Power Academy, and now Velobeat.

Why Velocity?

The heart of Velocity is the community, all the amazing people who show up to get stronger and bring their amazing energy into every workout. That’s what really makes it special to me.

What was the most challenging part of the Velobeat Academy?

The most challenging part was just getting everything together. There are so many little things you have to think about and control and, in the beginning it felt really overwhelming.

What’s going to make your Velobeat workouts unique?

I feel that music is an amazing way to connect with yourself. It has incredible power. So get ready for a challenging workout, one where you’ll test yourself and enjoy the good beats.

What music will you play in your workouts?

It’s going to be a mix of everything – some electronic, some rock, a little bit of techno and, of course, some guilty pleasure pop songs. There’s something for everyone.

Fun fact about you?

Whenever I hear some good music, I’ll most likely start dancing. I can’t help myself so I just had to stop caring about the way I look doing it.
