Weekend Warriors

Who doesn’t love weekends? You finally get to dedicate time to the things you enjoy doing and for a lot of people that means moving their bodies. Whether you’re coming to spin, going for a run or go dancing, working out is a fixed part of many people’s weekend plans. However, incorporating workouts into your weekly routine is just as important as working out on the weekends. Here’s why:
Working out before or after work breaks your routine. Instead of never stopping to think about work, you’ll be able to completely zone out for some time, allowing your mind some rest from what’s going on. Working out in the morning can load you with energy for the day so you can tackle all of your challenges and really get your game on. Clearing your mind can help you focus and allows you to change perspective if you’re stuck with a problem. What’s more, is that working out during the day gives you a sense of accomplishment, which will keep you going for the rest of the day.
On the contrary, working out in the evening will help really power you out, so you’ll get a good nights sleep instead of rolling around in bed. That will charge you up for the next day.
If you’re having trouble finding time for workouts during the week try and schedule them like you would with an appointment and if that’s still too much for you, leave a pair of sport shoes at the office so you can get out and move when you have a break, even if it’s just taking a walk for 10-15 minutes. Also try taking the stairs whenever you can and walk from A to B or take the bike instead of the car or the railway. Even these small portions will eventually add up.
Now back to our “Weekend Warriors”. Can’t find time during the week so you schedule an extra training for the weekend? In most cases, that will harm you more than it does good. Rest days are just as important as working out because you have to give your muscles the chance to regenerate to prevent injury and prepare for your next workout, so you can really kill it! And instead of constantly challenging yourself and living up to your own expectations, you have to give yourself a break sometimes. There’s no shame in just doing nothing for a day sometimes.
